Why an M buyer should read this page first.
An M is a serious purchase, and the M with the biggest horsepower figure isn't always the right one for you. This page walks you through that choice before you sign.
We've sold and serviced M cars on the Emerald Coast for years. The buyers who walk away happiest tend to nail three things first — the powertrain, the coastal climate, and the ownership math.
Below you'll find real numbers — horsepower, EPA range, acceleration, service intervals — pulled from the manufacturer and federal sources, plus the trade-offs we walk every buyer through in person at 1006 North Beal Parkway.
If you already know exactly which M you want, skip to the model section. If you're cross-shopping, read the comparison and the "what most buyers get wrong" section first. It'll save you a misbuy.
Shop the BMW M lineup.
The M badge is BMW's performance division. On the lot right now you'll find the M sedans and coupes — the M2, M3 Competition, M4 Competition, and M5 — plus the X5 M Competition SUV. Here's how we help you find, finance, and live with each one on the Gulf Coast.
BMW M2 for Sale
The M2 is the smallest, most tossable M coupe — a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline-six driving the rear wheels, rated by BMW at 473 horsepower. It's the purist's pick: compact footprint, classic rear-drive balance, and a price of entry well below the bigger M cars.
It's the M most of our first-time M buyers gravitate toward. Easy to place on the bridge to Destin, happy in a parking garage, and quick enough to embarrass cars twice its price. Ask us about the six-speed manual if you want the most analog version of the modern M.
BMW M3 Competition for Sale
The M3 Competition is the four-door benchmark: a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six rated at 503 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. It's offered in rear-drive and M xDrive all-wheel-drive form — the AWD car is the one most Gulf Coast buyers choose for everyday confidence.
This is the M for the buyer who wants real back-seat room and a trunk without giving up the M chassis. It's the car you can take to Eglin in the morning and to a track day on the weekend.
BMW M4 Competition for Sale
The M4 Competition is the M3's two-door sibling — same 503-horsepower twin-turbo inline-six, same eight-speed transmission, in a lower, tighter coupe body. The M4 Competition xDrive version adds all-wheel drive for traction off the line and in the rain that rolls through the Emerald Coast in summer.
If you're cross-shopping the M3 and M4, the choice is mostly body style and rear-seat use. We'll park both side by side so you can sit in each before you decide.
BMW M5 for Sale
The current M5 is the most powerful M sedan BMW has built — a twin-turbo V8 paired with a plug-in-hybrid electric motor, with combined output BMW rates around 717 horsepower and standard M xDrive all-wheel drive. It pairs super-sedan pace with the ability to run short trips on electric power alone.
One thing M5 shoppers should know: as a plug-in hybrid, it rewards owners who can charge at home. Budget for a Level 2 charger if you want the efficiency, and we'll point you to a licensed Okaloosa County electrician before you sign. We have two M5s on the lot right now.
BMW X5 M Competition for Sale
The X5 M Competition is a midsize SUV with a 617-horsepower twin-turbo V8 and M xDrive all-wheel drive. BMW rates it at 0–60 mph in 3.7 seconds — supercar pace in a car that still does the school run. Top speed is limited to 155 mph, or 177 with the M Driver's Package, per BMW USA.
It's the M SUV Fort Walton Beach and Destin families ask us about most often. You get an Active M Differential, Adaptive M Suspension Professional, and six-piston front M Compound brakes as standard.
On wheel sizes, we steer beach-and-bridge drivers toward the 21-inch setup over the 22s. The slightly taller sidewall survives the expansion joints on the Brooks Bridge and the parking-garage ramps in Destin without chewing up a $1,000-plus rim.
Looking for something we don't have on the lot today — an X6 M, an M8, the plug-in-hybrid XM, or the all-electric i7? We can order and source the wider M range and deliver it to you nationwide. Tell us the exact build and we'll locate it.
Nationwide delivery from Fort Walton Beach.
You don't have to live on the Emerald Coast to buy from us. We arrange delivery of M models across the country, so if your local lot doesn't have the exact spec — color, package, mileage, trim — we'll find it and bring it to you. Many of our buyers complete the paperwork remotely and take delivery in their own driveway.
Here's how it actually works:
- Tell us the model and spec you want.An M4 Competition in Isle of Man Green, an M3 Competition xDrive, an X5 M Competition with the right package — we stock these now, and we source the rest of the M range to your build.
- We verify the car before it leaves. On every M we deliver, our techs run a complimentary multi-point inspection, confirm tire date codes and tread depth, and document the car with photos. On used and Certified Pre-Owned M cars, we hold any unit that doesn't pass our inspection until it does. It is the kind of check that catches a set of tires with plenty of tread left but a date code several summers old — replaced before the car leaves the lot, not discovered by you later.
- Lock in pricing and financing remotely. Our sales team handles the numbers over phone and email, so the figures you approve are the figures at delivery.
- We coordinate enclosed transport to your address. You sign, you drive.
If you're closer to home, you can always see the car in person first. We're at 1006 North Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547, serving Destin and the surrounding Emerald Coast.
A note on out-of-state titling and fees: registration, title, and tax are set by your home state's DMV and vary widely. Before you commit, we'll point you to your state's official DMV or motor-vehicle agency so you can confirm your title and registration costs up front. We don't quote another state's fees we can't verify.
Know the M model and spec you want? Tell us and we'll source it, verify it, and deliver it.

What most M buyers get wrong.
The M car with the biggest horsepower number is not always the right buy for you. A few patterns we see often:
- Buying the biggest wheels for the look. On the X5 M Competition, the 22-inch setup photographs well and rides harder over our patched coastal roads and bridge joints. Half our local SUV buyers swap back to 21s within a season.
- Skipping the home charger on the plug-in-hybrid M5. The current M5 is a PHEV, and an unplugged PHEV mostly runs on its V8. If you can't or won't install a Level 2 charger, an M3 or M4 Competition — straight inline-six, no plug — may be the better fit.
- Cross-shopping on horsepower alone. The M5's combined output dwarfs the M2's, but the M2 is the car more of our buyers actually enjoy day to day on the bridge and in the parking garage. The biggest number isn't always the best drive.
- Over-buying on power for a beach-cruiser life. If 95% of your driving is the bridge to Destin and back, an M5 and an X5 M will both spend most of their lives at 40 mph. Buy for the 5% that matters to you.
The goal isn't to talk you out of an M. It's to make sure the M you buy is the one you still love in year three.
Owning an M on the Gulf Coast: service and upkeep.
Performance cars demand attention, and salt air and summer heat don't make it easier. Buy from us locally and your M comes home to a BMW-certified service department at 1006 North Beal Parkway, where every visit includes a complimentary multi-point inspection to help catch issues before they become repairs.
A few climate-specific things our shop watches on M cars here that a northern store never thinks about:
- Salt and humidity on brake hardware. Coastal air accelerates corrosion on calipers and rotor hats. Our techs inspect M brake hardware at every service and recommend a wash-down regimen for owners who park near the water.
- Tire age, not just tread. Florida UV and heat age tires faster than miles do. On the high-performance rubber M cars wear, we check the DOT date code, not just the tread depth, because a 2-year-old tire with great tread can still be heat-cycled past its prime.
- Cooling system load. Big twin-turbo V8s work hard in 95-degree, 90%-humidity July traffic. We pay close attention to coolant condition and heat-soak behavior on M cars that live here.
BMW also offers standard ownership programs through any BMW center, including BMW Certified Pre-Owned coverage and BMW Value Service for older vehicles. These are manufacturer programs available across the network — not something unique to us — but our team will walk you through which one fits your car's age and mileage.
We've learned that the people who end up happiest are the ones who understood the powertrain, the climate, and the ownership math before they signed. BMW of Fort Walton Beach Sales team
A word on pricing and valuation.
We don't post a single price on this page because M pricing swings hard with trim, options, mileage, and the used-vs-new market. What we can give you is context.
Before you commit, cross-check independent valuation sources like Edmunds or Kelley Blue Book (kbb.com) so you walk in knowing the market band for the exact spec you want. The more you know going in, the faster the deal goes.

Frequently asked questions about buying an M.
Do you ship BMW M models nationwide?
Yes. We arrange nationwide delivery from Fort Walton Beach via enclosed transport. Tell us the model and spec, we verify the car with a multi-point inspection and photo documentation, you finalize pricing and financing remotely, and we coordinate delivery to your address.
Which BMW M models do you carry?
Right now we stock the M2, M3 Competition, M4 Competition, and M5, plus the X5 M Competition SUV. We can also order and source the wider M range — the X6 M, M8, plug-in-hybrid XM, and the all-electric i7 — and deliver it nationwide. If we don't have your exact build on the lot, we'll locate it.
What's the difference between the M3 and M4 Competition?
They share the same 503-hp twin-turbo inline-six and eight-speed transmission, and both offer rear-drive or M xDrive all-wheel drive. The M3 Competition is a four-door sedan with real back-seat room and a trunk; the M4 Competition is the lower, tighter two-door coupe. The choice is mostly body style and rear-seat use. We'll park both side by side so you can feel the difference.
Is the BMW M5 worth it if I won't install a home charger?
The current M5 is a plug-in hybrid, and its efficiency depends on charging the battery — unplugged, it mostly runs on its V8. If a Level 2 home charger isn't in your plans, an M3 Competition or M4 Competition — straight twin-turbo inline-six, no plug — is usually the simpler fit, and we'll tell you that up front.
Which M models do you have in stock versus order?
The M2, M3 Competition, M4 Competition, M5, and X5 M Competition are on the lot at 1006 North Beal Parkway — call 850-863-8349 to confirm exact colors and trims today. Models like the X6 M, M8, XM, and i7 we order and source to your build, then deliver nationwide.
Can I buy a BMW M without coming to the dealership?
Yes. Many buyers complete the entire purchase remotely — spec, pricing, financing, and signing — then take delivery at home. You're also welcome to see the car in person at 1006 North Beal Parkway first.
Will you handle out-of-state title and registration fees?
Title, registration, and tax are set by your home state's DMV and vary by state. We'll help coordinate the paperwork and point you to your state's official motor-vehicle agency so you can confirm those costs before you commit. We won't quote another state's fees we can't verify.
