5 Essential Tire Care Tips

A tire provides traction between your vehicle and the road surface, which allows your car or truck to move forward on the ground. Without tires, it would be impossible for any vehicle to get anywhere! However, tires require maintenance too. Here are some tips for tire care to make it easier to keep your tires in good condition.

1) Check Tire Pressure

Try to check the pressure on all four tires once a month or before trips longer than 50 miles. If the air pressure is low, add air until it is at the manufacturer’s recommended level. Low-pressure tires are more likely to cause accidents and wear out faster than properly inflated ones.

If the tires are overinflated, they can pop or explode. Over-inflation may damage your vehicle’s suspension and steering components – causing them to fail. It also reduces fuel economy.

2) Clean Tire Rims

Dirt and other debris can get inside your rims and cause rusting, leading to cracking and rim damage over time. To prevent this problem, clean off your rims at least every other month using mild soap and water. Be sure to dry them off completely afterward.

You can also use a wheel cleaner specifically designed to remove dust, dirt, and grime from your tire’s rims. Be careful not to splash any cleaner on your tire’s sidewall, as this can damage the rubber.

3) Never Mix Different Types of Tires

Different types of tires are made for various purposes. For example, all-season tires are the most common type and can be used in any weather condition. However, if you live somewhere with extreme temperatures or high speeds on certain roads, you might need performance tires instead, which offer better grip than regular ones.

Mixing up tire types on your car can be dangerous. The different rubber compounds and tread patterns can cause your vehicle to handle poorly, especially in bad weather conditions.

4) Check Tire Tread

Always keep an eye on your tire tread. To get the most out of them, you need to ensure that they have enough grip for driving in wet conditions and other road hazards.

If the minimum depth is reached before a certain mileage limit, you might want to consider replacing the old tires with new ones as soon as possible.

5) Check Your Tire’s Wear Pattern

It’s also important to check your tire wear pattern. If you see that the tires are wearing more on one side than the other, something might be wrong with your suspension or alignment. Get those checked out by a dealership service center as soon as possible.

If you want to extend the life expectancy of your tires, it is important to have them checked periodically from our dealership service center. This way, our experts can identify any potential issues before they become major problems and replace them when necessary.
